There are plans in the UK for Voluntary Self Regulation (VSR)of all Reiki practitioners and teachers. The UK Reiki Regulatory Group was set up to represent all other Reiki bodies and organisations to agree a framework for the practice of Reiki.

Consultations were undertaken and feedback sought on 4 key areas which are:

1. The future of the Reiki profession through VSR
2. Education & Accreditation
3. Code of Ethics and Practice
4. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

The UK Reiki Regulatory Group aims to achieve VSR by July 08, which involves:

* finalising a code of safe professional practice of Reiki, including disciplinary and complaints procedures, taking account of feedback from the 2006 consultation process
* setting up a national register of Reiki practitioners practicing in a professional setting
* continuing to participate in the Federal Working Group
* reviewing the RRWG’s Rules of Operation
* establishing a constitution for the Regulatory Body .
